WHAT IS IP TRANSIT?

IP-transit, or provision of broadband access to the Internet for providers and operators, provides to clients access to networks of world providers of the first level by means of the modern optical networks of data transfer. In other words, it is data transfer between two network connection points of the client to a trunk IP network with support of the service class selected by the client. If you operator or provider, then this service, certainly, it is interesting to you as gives the chance "to buy" a traffic at the favorable price.

HOW IT WORKS?

The protocol that Internet providers and peers communicate with is the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
You do not have to run BGP to purchase IP transit. The Primus Telecom can instead simply provide you with a default gateway. You then use this default gateway inside your network to reach the rest of the Internet, and only your upstream provider has to worry about setting up BGP with the rest of the Internet.
